There’s a remake of Joey Gosiengfiao’s Temptation Island currently being filmed.

To be very honest, I have mixed feelings about this remake.  Is a remake of this cult camp hit even necessary? Or is it high time that a newer version of what many tout as the funniest Filipino film ever was made?

Ika nga ng isang banyaga (with matching accent) dun sa commercial ng Head and Shoulders shampoo (asking what the number 2 anti-dandruff shampoo in the world was): “I really don’t know.”

This new “Temptation Island” stars Marian Rivera, Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Rufa Mae Quinto, and Solenn Heussaff in roles played by Azenith Briones (Azenith Tobias) , Dina Bonnevie (Dina Espinola), Jennifer Cortez (Suzanne Reyes), Deborah Sun (Maria) and Bambi Arambulo (Bambi Belisario) in the original 1980 hit.

Aljur Abrenica, Tom Rodriguez,  Mikael Daez, John Lapus complete the main cast of this Temptation Island remake.

The remake is produced by Regal Films and GMA Films.

Some of you know that I really am not a big fan of Marian Rivera’s and I’d rather not watch whatever shiznit she’s in (and don’t get me started on Heart Evangelista), but I might watch this remake.

The film is directed by Chris Martinez (he directed “Here Comes The Bride,” “100” and wrote “Kimmy Dora,”), so I really might watch this. Only he (and of course Tom Rodriguez / Tom Mott from Pinoy Big Brother) can make me watch a piece that involves Marian.

Should we compare this remake to the original? I daresay, YES!

Let’s hope this remake of Temptation Island does the original justice.
